How to Install PVC Beadboard in a Bathroom

Installing beadboard is a simple process.

  1. Prepare the walls. Make sure the walls are clean, dry, and free of any dirt, dust, or debris. If the walls are textured, you may need to sand them smooth.
  2. Measure and cut the PVC beadboard. Measure the height of the wall and cut the PVC beadboard to size. You may need to cut the panels to fit around windows and doors.
  3. Apply construction adhesive to the back of the PVC beadboard. Use a generous amount of adhesive, and be sure to get it into all of the nooks and crannies.
  4. Attach the PVC beadboard to the wall. Start at the bottom of the wall and work your way up. Press the PVC beadboard firmly into place, and use a nail gun or screws to secure it every 12-16 inches.
  5. Fill any gaps with caulk. Use a caulking gun to fill any gaps between the panels.

Here are a few tips you should consider before beginning your installation.

  • If you are installing beadboard in a bathroom or kitchen, use a moisture-resistant adhesive.
  • If you are installing beadboard over a textured wall, use a primer before painting or staining.
